Rape in Bannister

camily

Peace
I suggest you pick your kids up from school if you live in the Bannister/Wakefield/Carrington etc, neighborhoods. A 16 year old was raped walking home from school yesterday. My friend (a cop) called at 11:00 PM and told me. Picking mine up early today for an appointment anyway. The rapist hasn't been cought yet, so watch your babies and make sure any women in your lives are extra careful. :yay:

Thanks for getting the word out. :yay: And a walking buddy system could help too.

This is a better idea than parents picking their kids up from school. In fact, women/girls should do it all the time, not just when there's a story in the news.

I think picking them up for a while could backfire by making them feel more paranoid to get back out there on their own. Encouraging a buddy system allows them to not feel like a victim but more in control of their surroundings because they face the fear as a team. :boxing:

Rack'm a gun would be nice (sweet even) but mace or pepper spray is definitely safer for young girls as well as effective. :huggy:

A stun gun would be much more fun.

If the shoe fits....
I heard about that this morning on my way in to work. My brother used to live in that neighborhood a few years ago. Good thing he doesn't now, my neice is 11 years old.

Helping me make my decision to move. When my daughter has to be afraid to walk down the street to friends house to play, thats when we leave!
Shame!
