There must be another part of the story to let a rapist out on 500 bucks.

The other part of the story is that the justice system in SMC (as in most places) is designed to encourage criminals to prey on the citizens and make certain the criminals aren't punished in any meaningful way.

If nobody beats me to it I'll do a search and find out who the judge was who though it was a good idea to turn a violent rapist loose.

it may not have been a Court judge. It may have been a district court commissioner who has a GED and a friend in the Courts. I have dealt with many Commissioners and can conclude that easily. But you are 100% correct, check the dockets for 2nd degree escape warrants and its mostly people who FTA, removed anklets, failed to meet P & P...which means they are free to roam. Then, and I've seen this, when arrested for escape or FTA, the new commissioners does what????? yup

Two commissioners were arrested in PG, one for assaulting police, and the other for significant domestic violence....

Because COVID is still a thing, the detention center is not doing work release or other in/out type functions.
Unless they are found guilty or a real threat to the community they are going on pre-trail release / home detention.

Rape and no fixed address isn't a threat?
I am not defending him, but we don't know the details (nor do I want to), just that there are degrees of rape.
Again, I just know there are
No the other part of it does raise a good question, "no fixed address"
Well I'm sure they have a explanation for that too.
My understanding is that that the detention center is trying to only keep people who have been sentenced to keep the potential of exposure down.

I'd suggest you take a look.at his record. Quite colorful.
