Ravens sign WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh
A week before the season opener, the Ravens strengthened their wide receiver group by signing free-agent T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

According to ESPN, It is a one-year deal worth the veteran minimum. The Ravens have yet to confirm the agreement.

Houshmandzadeh, 32, who was released by the Seattle Seahawks after one season with the team, would likely be the No. 3 receiver behind Anquan Boldin and Derrick Mason. He reportedly considered the Washington Redskins and Oakland Raiders before reaching a deal with the Ravens.

This move -- which comes hours after the New York Jets (the Ravens' season opening opponent) reached a new deal with cornerback Darrelle Revis -- helps the depth at wide receiver, where the Ravens lost Donte' Stallworth (broken foot) for at least six weeks. Mark Clayton, who has been the team's No. 3 wide receiver in preseason, is dealing with a concussion.

Last season, Houshmandzadeh caught 79 passes for 911 yards and three touchdowns. Before signing a five-year, $40 million deal with Seattle, he had three straight seasons of 90 or more catches for the Cincinnati Bengals.

I think this is a sweet deal. He was signed for the vet minimum of $855,000. Good signing due to the fact that Stallworth will be out until around the end of October. They signed Stallworth for $900,000. Not bad payouts for two proven vet receivers.
