MORE like Michael Douglas's ANSWER to Michael J Fox. Or rather, what he says later, toward the end - that Freedom of Speech means, you must permit someone to say something that you've spent a lifetime opposing.
At the core of freedom is the basic presumption that none of us have the corner on absolute truth, all the time. That yours or my response to things are nuanced, possibly tainted, but not the Word of God - the last word in truth and righteousness.
I suppose if you were to directly discuss with the Almighty, you really couldn't disagree with him if you wanted to. He's the one who set up from down, yesterday from tomorrow. He's the deal. HIS opinion goes.
The rest of us - we're flawed. We make mistakes. I tell my son, measure twice, measure THREE times, cut ONCE. Because you will always make a mistake. Be willing to listen - because you don't know everything.
UNLESS you're a Democrat. Then you get to have YOUR opinion be unassailable AND get to ignore and even impugn the opinions of your opponents. Because of all that truth stuff.
