That is just what we heard on the scanner. I have yet to catch the location. I did hear an officer say that it is "just total chaos here". Does anyone know where this is happening at?

In that time frame there were two differnt 2 car accidents in hollywood but that is all I see.

Are you sure they did not say 8 people...???

That's why they have TAC Channels, which can only be heard by Fire/Rescue and Police. There is nothing wrong with people listening to Scanners.

I'm guessing it was a PD only, though I would find it very hard to believe that an eight car (or eight person) accident would be property damage only

Anyone can listen to TAC channels as well. The only encrypted channels in St. Mary's are St. Mary's Vice/Narcotics and St. Mary's Hazmat.

I can understand the Vice/Narcotics being encrypted, for that matter, any police activity that could tip off someone that is about to be arrested being encrypted,
but why Hazmat? I would rather know that 80,000 gallons of green glowing liquid is spilled across the road before I actually ended up sitting in traffic or driving through it.

The Hazmat channel is rarely used. On most hazmat incidents, they operate on normal tac channels. The Hazmat channel is actually used for training in hazmat scenarios and actual high-profile, high-risk hazmat emergencies. Anything that could be terrorist related would be on reason to utilize the Hazmat channel

Yesterday

I was traveling North Rte 2 and came upon an accident which blocked the intersection. Police detoured us on Friendship Rd (Calvert County)

Numerous fire trucks/ambulances but I only saw one tow truck with a totaled mini van on it. There were 3 ambulances headed South miles before I reached the accident.

It was chaos.

This was ~1:45 when I saw some of what happened and was detoured.

I have no idea if the St. Mary's and Calvert scanners overlap.

Anyway, I hope all involved are okay.
