I used Dean lumber twice for cabinets and countertops (once when I redid my main kitchen, 2nd time was to install a new kitchenette in my addition). They came to the house to do the estimate, did the layout and computerized it so that I could do a virtual walk thru of the rooms to make sure I would be happy with the end results. I was happy with the work crew both times and the completed rooms. Note, there was a glitch during the installation of my restored kitchen and the head of that department came out to the house himself to determine a solution at no extra cost to me.
We love Dean lumber. When you can't find anything at lowes it's off to Dean or even Dyson lumber in Gr. Mills. Guaranteed one of the two will have it!!
However, when we were building our new dream home our builder wanted us to go through Dean and I was not pleased with the lady I was to deal with.
So a friend recommended Stuart Kitchens in Waldorf. We had changed our kitchen layout from the original plans. I had already done the template for how I wanted it layed out and what cabinets where. (Previous 'experience' from our 1st house here where I changed the kitchen around-more on that to follow.)
1st house here had small working kitchen. Very little cabinet space, in fact, so little I used the coat closet right off the kitchen as a utility closet for all my appliances, food etc. I redesigned the layout adding 3 pantry type cabinets (floor to ceiling), had corian LAMINATE counter tops installed. Bought the cabinets from Beautiful Kitchens. Hubby installed/hung them to save a few bucks. Maybe 4 upper cabinets (36" height) , 7 bottom cabinets including the sink base etc. Total cost, $15,000.00.
Now new house- 7 large (42" ht) upper cabinets, Bottom-2 large double tiered lazy susan corners, 3 sets of drawer cabinets, heavy duty slide out shelf cabinet for pots & pans, Mixer cabinet (mixer sits on shelf and raises to work height), veggie cabinet with slide out baskets. Raised Breakfast bar for 4. And a separate "bar" area for mixing drinks with same counter top and upper/lower cabinets. My counter tops are CORIAN. Kitchen is 3 times as big as my old house.
The same design and brand cabinets were used in both houses. OH! Almost forgot, the cabinets for 3 of my 4 baths were included in the pricing.
Are you ready to hear the price I paid for the cabinets in my new house?
Way less then what we paid in the old house for way less cabinets and laminate counters.................
Our cabinet allowance was $5K. We spent just under 8K. Why the huge difference in price (considering the differences in quanity/counter top of course)? Whether it's true or not I don't know. But supposedly Stuart Kitchens is the supplier for lowes, dean, home depot etc. That's what the salesman told me. All I know is I saved a huge amount of money, got the same quality cabinets and upgraded my counter tops to what I truly wanted. The salesman was awesome. They delivered as promised. And if I were to build or remodel here in the area again, I wouldn't go anywhere else.
