And the dealer offered me the "clear coating/sealing" package, which I declined. Does anyone have this on their vehicle, and does it make a difference? Is there a shop I can go to that will do this around here (St Mary's/Charles/Calvert)?

OMG! You DIDN'T get the clear coat/sealing package??????????? Good for you. It is a scam. Today's automotive finishes are bullet proof if taken care of properly. Just keep a good coat of clear coat safe wax on it. Google info about how dealers make money. This is one of the biggest money makers for the dealer and money taker for the consumer. Also, don't do aftermarket, you don't need it!

Anyone who says it makes a difference is either an auto dealer or was taken for a ride and still doesn't realize it.

Two suggestions:

Mother's Carnuba wax

Meguiar's car care products.

Thanks, this is what I figured. The vehicle is black, and after having 2 other black vehicles, it can take quite a bit to make them shine.

Ask them how much they'll give back for that option when you trade the car in?

They'll look like you hit them with a fake coach bag.

Useless info here Chasey,

I had an '81 Pontiac G.P. with T-Tops. This thing was "loaded". Parking it in direct sunlight made it "fun" to get into. It had belt buckles with chrome finish on some of the parts, of course. They would take the skin off.

If you can, try getting all windows but the windshield and the rear window tinted.

why wouldn't you get the rear window tinted?

One issue: Sometimes window tint will either become "a mess" or can interfere with rear window defrosters.

Another possible issue: if you are stopped by PoPo; and you have tinted windows; if "Johnny Law" decides your rear window is "too dark", you could be cited and/or be told to remove it on the spot.

I have an appt to get the windows tinted this week. I've always gotten the back window tinted, and I've never had a problem with the defrost interfering. Besides, I think the vehicle would look funny without it.

make sure they put the stickers on the windows saying what percentage tint is used, that way if anyone says it's too dark you have proof it's legal.

Well, I didn't plan on getting legal tint, but maybe I can ask for the stickers as a precaution.

Front Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Back Side Windows Must allow more than 35% of light in.
Rear Window Must allow more than 35% of light in.

PERFECT wording. If your stock windows are already tinted and you place 35% tint on that it will fail the inspection.

I had 20% on my car and I got pulled over and was told that it had to be removed. I pulled it off and never got tint put back on. Im trying to move to FL so imwaiting for the 20% to go back on because FL is legal to 5% from what ive been told.
