My 3 year old granddaughter has just been diagnosed with renal reflux- urine flowing back into kidney from bladder causing infection and scarring. Surgery is recommended treatment. Of course we want to ensure the best result. I would appreciate the name of a pediatric urolist or surgeon in the Washington DC or Baltimore area. Thanks

I would contact Childrens Hospital for a recommendation or ask your Pediatrican for a recommendation. I take my son to Dr. Colona in Waldorf. He is thorough and to the point - no waisted conversation, just get in and out.

In My Opinion
cant help you with any names but I will be praying for a successful operation and outcome.

Please have your pediatrician refer you to Children's Hospital. That is your best option. I know they saved my child's life, when he was born ill. I wouldn't trust anyone else with my childs care for surgical procedures.

I have a friend that has a little girl with Rett Syndrome she only deals with John Hopkins and on a REGULAR basis. I will ask her if she can recommend someone and post tomorrow. Her little one has been through alot and she really looks into her doctors.

My daughter has seen Dr. Kaloo at Children's Hospital at the satellite office in Upper Marlboro... We love love love her and can not say enough wonderful things about her. Hope this helps!:huggy:

My boy also saw Dr. Kalloo from Childrens Hospital and she did his surgery and she is great! Explains things very well. I would recommend not wasting time seeing local urologists (we did) and go directly to Childrens Hosp. Again Dr. Kalloo is very good and we saw her at both Upper Marlboro and Annapolis satellite offices. Good luck.

My son has Bilateral Reflux of the Kidneys. He outgrew it. I am so glad for that. We went to Dr. Yegappan Lakshmanan at Johns Hopkins Hospital in Baltimore. There staff is awesome. They sit with you and help you through the testing. I needed that. Best of luck for you.

He is awesome. It is hard to find good doctors. The staff was great. Not to go into great detail, but with a boy they have to shoot dye in his penis. Ya not fun. We have to do that for the next couple years to make sure that everything is growing right. Trying holding down a 3 year old by yourself while the doc shoves a catheter in his penis. I did that by myself when he was only 1. They helped me. It went really smooth. The distract my son. Wasn't that hard at all.

Thank you for recommendations

I knew that I would get help on this forum. I shared the names of the docs with my daughter and she is appreciative. She had heard of the doctors and it was reasuring to hear that you were pleased with them. My granddaughter has had the dye test already which diagnosed level 5 reflux. She has some scarring already. The next step is to have scans done. It does look like the only treatment for her is surgery. If you have had a child with this diagnosis, I would appreciate it if you would share your experience and any advice. Thanks
