I need to find a reputable mover. We are moving (locally) and need to store our stuff until we move into another house. Thanks in advance for your recommendations.

Thanks Kwillia,
We are actually storing some stuff there now! I don't think they do moving though. Thanks for your help!

But wait, there's more...
Not sure if you've priced it yet or not, but having a moving company store your stuff costs almost as much (if not more) than the move itself. You might consider getting one of these PODS and doing it yourself, depending on your budget.

Had my items in a POD before I moved to Charles County. It was wonderful and not pricey. You can store your POD at their warehouse or at another location so to me it was a good deal. Check out the website. www.pods.com

Thanks to both of you for info on the pods! I had not thought about that! I am going to look into it.
I appreciate your help!

No PODS franchise in St. Mary's County... :ohwell:
With all the movement (in and out), I'm surprised. :ohwell:

Heck, I'm surprised the military hasn't just forced folks to do PODS for relocations considering how much they spend on moving companies. Not that I'd have been happy about that when I was in.

As it turns out, they do not service my area! I am looking into whether there are similar services down here.
Thanks again!

We used Quality in Lexington Park last year. Had no complaints.
We just moved here last summer, and quality delivered our stuff, I WOULD NOT recommend them, my husband didn't plan to well, and we shipped his motorcycle cross country. When they unloaded it off the truck, we watched them gleefully hop on it and roll it down the hill. Then we noticed the numerous dents and scratches on it, not to mention the corrosion, it looked as if it had been stored outside. We were not happy, and we are still fighting with them to get money for it (we have pictures before the move!).

I found a place called Onsite rentals. Instead of a pod, they bring a trailer (45 feet long) to your house. It sounds like a good deal. $300 for bringing it and moving it and $99 a month for however long you keep it. The only thing is I live on a narrow dirt road and don't know if they will be able to get it to my house. I am going to see if they will come down and check it out. It seems like the best deal!

I've seen the POD commercials and think it's a cool idea. :yay: However, glad you found something that works for you. Hope all is well with you and yours.

The traller sounds great. Its just like the POD too. The POD that I had was $200 monthly and $68 to deliver. I was just happy not to worry about my things since it took me a while to move. :coffee:

Well, it looks like the trailer will not fit down my dirt road and driveway. It is 45 feet long. I am going to have them come out (I hope) to see if it will work. Ah well...

Pak-Mail will move you if the trailer doesn't work out...

Thanks, what I was trying to avoid was moving stuff into storage and then moving it out several months down the road, basically paying for two moves instead of one. I am getting an estimate from Pak mail by the way.

My best,
Joe
