Recusal Refusal

Senate Democrats who are running for the party’s 2020 nomination are ruling out recusing themselves from participating in any Senate impeachment trial of President Trump, even amid questions from Republicans that it could represent a conflict of interest.
[snip]
But as the inquiry consumes Washington and the 2020 campaign trail, it is possible the Democrat-controlled House votes to impeach the president in the coming months.
That would then set up an impeachment trial in the Senate, where a host of 2020 candidates -- including Sens. Klobuchar; Bernie Sanders, I-Vt.; Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.; Kamala Harris, D-Calif.; Cory Booker, D-N.J.; and Michael Bennet, D-Colo.
It raises the question of whether they would benefit if their potential 2020 general election rival were removed from office -- and if so, if they should therefore recuse themselves from any trial.
“Shouldn’t they recuse themselves if it came to the Senate?” Massie asked. “Wouldn’t anyone so positioned against a defendant be barred from serving as a judge or jury in a court of law?”
Seems like a clear case of a conflict of interest to me.

Who cares if they recuse themselves?
There aint enough of them to support impeachment.
And it's just another reason to vote against them in the election.

Give them all the rope they need/.

That's kind of what I was getting at...this will fail to pass the Senate as it is right now, so any of the Senators in the race could take the high road and recuse themselves and not have the question of a conflict of interest out there. I'm not holding my breath, but it would be refreshing to see it.

Maybe they believe that their bias and their conflict of interest will get them more votes from the snowflakes than their fake recusal will give them.
perhaps they are stupid enough to believe that there are enough Trump haters out there to elect them.
Perhaps they believe polls saying Trump is losing votes.

There are not enough Trump haters out there. I believe voter fraud in 2020 will be through the roof. Any which way you can. The chair is not empty, anymore.

How is it that people who live and die by polls are failing to recognize the backlash going on in this country? Do they only poll their own staffers? Do the pollsters only deliver results that the politician will like? They have to know that we're not just going to sit back and take them trying to overturn our election and replace the President WE voted for.

Elizabeth Warren has to understand that if we rejected Shrillary, we will absolutely reject her. And doubling down on Socialist control isn't going to win her more votes. "Hmmm....Hillary was pretty far Left and she lost.....I know! I'll go even further Left! That'll do it!"

What are these people thinking?

As Tranny's former persona TJ said, pollsters poll where the people are. And where are they? In urban and outlying areas. And they lean heavily progressive/socialist.

That has to be what it is, but you'd think they'd branch out a bit and get a better sampling for more accurate results.

Why put in the effort when they achieved the result they were looking for :sshrug: Your way would not support the correct end result.

"Accurate"? Depends on what your purpose is. To feed a narrative or present factual information. If I want to show my product doen't corrode, I'll pull samples from Arizona, not Key West.

Perhaps Democrats just like to answer polls.
If your name isn't in my phone I seldom answer it.If I do and someone says poll I hang up.

I answered the other day and I waited and said hello again, soon a voice says , is Ellen there.
I said you know damned well she isn't and hung up.
Next time I might say yes, Hold on while I go get her.
