Recycling Carpet

I hope there's someone that can answer this question...we just took out carpeting from one of our rooms. Is there a place in Charles County to recycle this? I have no idea what to do with it. Maybe the dump...I wanted to see if there was another alternative, first though.

Call a carpet store and see if they'll take it or have ideas on what to do with it. Otherwise throw it out or burn it.

Please don't burn it. Most carpets are synthetic and it will more melt then burn, giving off toxic fumes in the process. calling the carpet stores is a great idea. If you find someone down here that will recycle, PLEASE post that info. I have only found someone in Baltimore. You can also google Maryland Recyclers. There are a bunch of sites with listings.

Maybe give it to the homeless so they can use it on the floor of their tents or line their boxes? :shrug:

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will call a carpet store and see what they say. Otherwise I will have to see if WM will take it in the pickup tomorrow. I will post what I find out.
