Red Wine

Can anyone recommend a good red wine. My husband likes a sweet red wine, but the only one I KNOW is sweet is a Sutter Home "sweet red" but that taste like candy and I think is full of sugar. I personally drink a white wine so I don't know. I wouldn't mind trying a red wine if it were not bitter. I'm not sure of the difference between a cabernet or a merlot or a pinot?

My friends and I like Chesapeake Blue Crab Red for social drinking. Not expensive, but well balanced. Winery is in VA off Route 3.

Stop in at Blue Wind to taste-test various wines. Rob and his crew are happy to educate.

I always get a Pinot Noir or a Shiraz... :yay:

I agree, YellowTail is a good cheap one in both.

shiraz is not really that sweet...though the yellowtail version is quite good..but I always think of it as a drier red wine

whats good and fairly sweet, but not candy-like is running hare vinyard's "jack rabbit red" it is really a crowd pleaser, even my friends who don't like wine like it. you can even run up there for a wine tasting and try it out..the place is totally beautiful, and the wine is very good and not terribly overpriced.

How about going to the winery. Friday's Creek is north calvert county. Luby has one and Solmans has one. You get to task then take one home.:buddies:

I like red wine, but it turns my teeth purple.
Back in the day I used to be fond of ice cold peppermint schnapps... I liked the mintyness of it and would roll it around along my tongue before swallowing... never realizing it was turing my tongue blue until someone did a doubletake on time and asked me if I was blowing smurfs... :ohwell:

I'm not a big fan of red wine but I'll drink Apothic now and then. It's a nice blend that isn't too sweet and isn't too dry. I know Twist carries it for around $10-12.

Sister and I got quite a giggle at some people at Christmas party we attended. They were eating cookies with green sugar on them and turned their teeth green. Quite hysterical after a few glasses of wine.
