George Allen preferred Billy Kilmer who he brought in in 1971. In 72 Sonny won the job back but blew the achilles. From what I have read the battle for QB was so big that there were Sonny/Billy Bumper Stickers and Buttons. Sonny ad Billy were friendly rivals.
