Reformatting Laptop Hard Drive

I usually reformat my desktop hard drive once a year because it always runs better after a fresh reformat.

But I have been scared to do that to my laptop, is there any reason to be? The disk that came with the laptop labeled System Restore Disk is really just a Windows XP disk (cause I used it on my desktop). Think everything will still work after I reformat the drive?

Heck yes! Reformat during the XP load...

During the XP load when it shows your partitions, hilight it and delete your partition/s, and create a new one - when it asks to format or format quick - pick format and off you go!
