relocating- cable access in tall timbers?

We are relocating next week and have been seeking houses for sale in the area. We happened to come across one in Tall Timbers. Now the question- all the neighbors appear to have satellite dishes. Does anyone know if that area has cable internet service? The area looks good as far as neighborhood, etc. Also, any other areas with some land that might be worth checking into? Have to pass on the Ranch Estates, just something about having to cross a bridge to get to work (fun delays) The bad thing is that all the houses we want is there, but no land. Thanks in advance

But wait, there's more...
A friend of a friend lives out that way and had to get satellite b/c there was no cable there yet. Best bet is to call GMP Cable and find out if the address you're looking at has cable in the area or not. :ohwell:

and check your PM'r. :yay:

You can get a cable modem via GMP Cable. That's the only way to get high speed access in Tall Timbers without a dish. Verizon is "supposed" to provide DSL service but Tall Timbers is too far away from any of their towers.

Call GMP Cable TV at 301-373-3201 and ask if that particular home is "servicable" with cable. They should be able to tell you.

GMP is in the process of undergoing a complete cable system upgrade (new electronics, new fiber optic cable, adding 15 new channels etc). This upgrade is about 75%+ complete in St. Mary's County. I don't believe the Tall Timbers area has been upgraded yet, but it should be upgraded soon (no later than March 2005).

GMP recently upgraded their high speed Internet service, too. It's available in Tall Timbers.

I have a few friends who work for GMP, that's why I'm familiar with GMP.

Tall Timbers is a very nice area. I hope you like living in St. Mary's County. It's a great place to live!

Good Luck!

Thanks for your help!! My husband would get very irritated if he had to wait for 56K to load, so cable internet would be awesome. We tried satellite pc or something like that several years ago and it was a pain. Thanks!!
