So the guy who beat his son at the football practice was supposed to go to court to day for beating the crap out of his kid. Well a witness in the case just got back and was told he was not needed. The case was excused or dismissed. So does this mean the child beater got away with it?

Or the dumbazz pled guilty so there was no need for trial.. probably plea bargained down to a fine..

If the case was dismissed, doesn't that mean the charges were dropped?

Assuming the jurist was just told that he wasn't needed.. I wouldn't think the Bailiff would be told (or that he would tell the jurors) the circumstances other then to tell them they aren't needed..

If it was excused or dismissed then yes that would be true..
