Romans 12:1 Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—this is your true and proper worship. 2 Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.
3 For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you. 4 For just as each of us has one body with many members, and these members do not all have the same function, 5 so in Christ we, though many, form one body, and each member belongs to all the others. 6 We have different gifts, according to the grace given to each of us. If your gift is prophesying, then prophesy in accordance with your faith; 7 if it is serving, then serve; if it is teaching, then teach; 8 if it is to encourage, then give encouragement; if it is giving, then give generously; if it is to lead, do it diligently; if it is to show mercy, do it cheerfully.
This is some really good advice. As a matter of fact, there are a lot of people sitting in pews today that should look around and find out if they are in the right place. When you go to church this morning, will you hear the word "indictment"?
When you go to church this morning, will the people around you be happy to be there?
When you go to church this morning, will the people be caring for each other?
About a year ago, I sent a man to church for help. They told him to come back on Monday. I couldn't help him. He needed food for his baby and himself, and they told him to come back on Monday. He was prime for a Christian Witness, but he was told to come back on Monday. He was in a pickle and they told him to come back on Monday. Do Christians have to "rest" on Sunday? Would that happen at your church? Sure, the food bank doesn't open on Sunday, but should this man reaching out, be sent away because it's the wrong day of the week?
Is Sunday like the "Sabbath of the days of Jesus" in your church?
I don't know what you are good at. Maybe you would be better at dusting the pews than teaching. Maybe you would be better at teaching the little ones than the old geezers. Maybe your knowledge of the Bible makes you a perfect deacon. Maybe your peach cobbler makes you perfect for the pot luck coordinator. Maybe your talent is sewing, so you can make lap quilts for cancer patients. Are you the "prayer warrior"? Do you spend most of your day in quiet prayer for the world and all those in it?
Are you using your talent for good?
God gave you that talent. He will ask what you did with it. What will you tell him?
Renew your mind.... dedicate your talents....
God has chores for His kids to do. Do those chores to the best of your ability and when God asks you about them, you will have a happy report.
Renew your mind.... dedicate your talents.... and smile when you do your chores.
Renew.... Dedicate... Smile!
