Rental Income and State Taxes

Here's the situation: We own a house in NC that we rent out. We do not turn a profit at this time, if that's relevant. It's a modestly sized home in the south so we're not talking ridiculous sums of money here. Right now we live in MD (and have for all of 2011) and have no plans to return to NC in the foreseeable future. Which state do we pay taxes to on that rental income?

Our taxes have always been fairly straightforward so I just do them myself. Is this worth hiring an accountant? Thanks in advance for any insight.

How long have you had it rented? Maybe it's best to not worry about the rental income if it was for a few short months. We take a loss each month on our rental property, but we still have to claim the monthly rent as income... pisses me off.
