those of you that have visited Point Lookout have seen the memorial to those that perished in the prison camps there during the Civil War. They committed no crimes, most were people indifferent to the North or South. Like the Californians who happened to have physical Asian traits, imprisoned in WWII.

So........are descendants of those camps entitled to reparations? Seems logical. Since we are dolling out money for a noble cause, why not?

You severely underestimate the ability of some people to recognize sarcasm. There are people who will see this as a social need.

No check, it will be cash only and distributed in West Garfield Park. There will be a special outlet one must follow.

Maybe I should sue Pennsylvania and the Penn family for atrocities against my ancestors. William Penn's father was an admiral that supported and fought on the side of Cromwell and sat in the castle located in my family ancestral home city. Cromwell's atrocities against the irish and Catholics are well know. The son was a known anti catholic and commissioned the Mason Dixon to keep those Maryland Catholics in their place.

Meh, the proposition is ludicrous, but it does remind us of a reality. A fair percentage of American wealth was generated via slave labor.

It would be difficult to find a single ethnic group that has not been enslaved at some point in history. Without the agricultural excess generated by helots, slaves, in Ancient Greece, there would not have been a class of persons with the leisure to develop democracy, money, commerce, banking, theater, poetry, logic, mathematics, navigation and astronomy.

Pretty much every thing we value and take for granted includes an element of suffering and injustice. Meat gets pretty disgusting when you visit the slaughterhouse. Those sneakers don't feel so good on your feet when you visit the Chinese sweatshop where they were made.

Life is unfair, ugly, vicious and cruel.

Should all blacks be forced to pay reparations to all whites for the crimes a large number of blacks perpetrate primarily against whites?

Mugging, car jacking, burglary, retail theft, welfare fraud, drug dealing, murder, rape.......

If American blacks want reparations for slavery, they're going to have to lay that claim on the Portugese, the Arabs, the Turks, the Spainish and the African tribes that took prisoners and sold them as slaves.

Trying to make the claim that any modern wealth wouldn't have happened without slavery is like the politician who shows up to put down the cornerstone of a building - and then claims that without his input - the building could NOT have happened. His contribution - overall - was utterly inconsequential, albeit vital.

But it completely ignores the massive interaction of the rest of the world in the formation of anything.

Can you please cut and paste a quote of me stating that "modern wealth wouldn't have happened without slavery"?

You cannot, because I said nothing of the kind.

The proposition that reparations could be made is ridiculous. The assertion, which has voluminous documentation, that a great deal of contemporary American wealth is the result of profits generated by black slave labor, is not. The reality that whites in general have benefited unjustly from the past exploitation of Chinese coolies, women in general, Hispanics, the poor of every type, and African blacks cannot be refuted. I find it irrelevant, because every group or class can make a similar claim against some other class, and it's an impossible task to accurately trace the ancestry of who benefited and who suffered..

Your composition skills are pure S H I T.

If something is vital, it has a consequence, thus it cannot be "inconsequential".

What you might have argued, but were too stupid to do, was to say, "his contribution was insignificant".

Even that is incorrect. A cornerstone is literally a part of a building's essential foundation, and if the foundation is not complete, the building is unsound.

If you want to compile and present proof that black slavery made no contribution whatsoever to white wealth, past or present, have at it.

But you're too much of a lazy snide dishonest s h itbag to do that, right?
