Report: Danica Patrick to CWTS in 2010

Latebreaking wire report out of Charlotte is suggesting Danica Patrick has already signed a deal to run a limited number of Cup races and the entire Truck Series schedule in 2010 for Roush/Fenway.

Jack Roush said yesterday on the ESPN2 Milwaukee broadcast that he had some announcements to make in the coming weeks... but that, I thought, was just to announce he was releasing Jamie McMurray from the 26 car and moving Stenhouse, Braun and Darnell to full-time Nationwide rides in 2010.

This could get interesting. Gabi DiCarlo and Chrissy Wallace haven't done anything in the Truck Series and both of them are seasoned stock car racers. This is career suicide for Danicamania, if this is true.

It'll be interesting to see how Danica will stack up against Gabi DiCarlo, Chrissy Wallace and Alli Owens (who will likely be running the entire Nationwide schedule for Eddie D'Hondt next year).

If this is true, I wouldn't be surprised if NASCAR played a direct role either. Getting Danicamania out of IRL and in to NASCAR will kill the IndyCar Series and would be a big GIANT boost for NASCAR.

I asked my people what they've heard and I'm hearing Trucks or Nationwide, either way with Roush. It's not confirmed for sure or anything, but the chatter is more than pure speculation.

We might finally get to see what this girl's got. Especially if she does run Nationwide. Alli Owens is likely to run Nationwide full-time for Eddie D'Hondt next year, and Gabi could run the full Truck Series schedule. It will be interesting to see how she ranks up against an actual stock car driver like Alli Owens or Gabi DiCarlo.

I'm sure Brian France wouldn't mind having Danica in the field... he's probably counting the money already.

Yeah, she will most likely struggle for the first season or so. BUT it's all about the Benjamin's and filling the seats, she will help with that aspect. And she is HOT! Attitude or not..

Beev, I think she might just give Gabi, Chrissy and Alli all they can handle.. Danica has one an IRL event, even though it was like what a 20 car field??
Have the above mentioned stock car estrogen drivers won @ the top levels?
Hell your girl Gabi can't even finish top 10 in ARCA.. I think Chrissy would give her the best run out of the 3.

Gabi doesn't have it in her to win, but she is hot.

Alli -- she hasn't had the equipment even for ARCA standards to do big things. She would've finished top 5 at Daytona if Eddie Mercer didn't dump her. Had it not been for a mistake in the pits at Talladega, she would've easily had a top 2 finish there. :shrug:

Anytime I've ever seen Chrissy race, she's wrecked. I don't know how Danica will do. Stranger things have happened, hell, Montoya and Stewart were pretty damn good off the bat. But Smoke and JPM are two of the greatest race car drivers of our time. I'd be willing to lump Gordon and Shrub in there as well, I bet Shrub could do amazing things in IRL or F1.

Danica struggles in IRL though... she has gotten better but she still makes a lot of mistakes. Hell, those cars almost drive themselves compared to the rolling turd (COT).
