I saw how long the video was going to be and didn't want to spend 11 minutes, but Johnny Cash singing "Hurt" was worth it, and it was so very, very sad. I ALWAYS give bikers, bicyclists extra room and look out for them while driving.

Thank you for that, I wish everyone was like that. Too many bikers getting hurt lately.

Nice video. Wish I could read german. I guess the point is there regaurdless. I don't know if it was planned, but seems like a lot of sport bikes. No matter what we ride we are vunerable.

A couple of them that looked REAL bad, fatal even, the riders walked away due to the riding gear they were wearing..

The video where the car is spinning in front of the bike, the rider hits the cars front at full speed, and you see the video from the helmet.. she was in a one piece leather riding suit, fully armored, full face helmet and riding gloves, she remained conscious (sp?) through out and I believe she walked away.

I'd have to watch the video again, but I recognized several snippets.. OOH the one where the car runs the red light in the right lane and gets broadsided by a bike.. he gets up and is PISSED.. Again, full face helmet, armored riding gear, gloves and boots.. Bruised but other than that unscathed and pissed..

Been off two wheels for close to 4 years now. Wanna go back to riding but have to admit I am a bit intimidated these days as there are just way too many idiots out there that just don't see ya coming. Promised myself some type of cross country with Ponytail one day. Gotta get that X in the box. Be safe guys. I am always looking in the mirror for ya.

To think that Aps posted this.

Aps, I had a dream about you, and somebody told me I must have sexual feelings about you if I did.

I worry about all of you, out there enjoying your freedom from the "cage" and then you put your kids on the back. GRRRR!

Southern Maryland is bad for driving, even in a big cage.

The entire nation has become bad because we all rely on cell phones and feel a need to be connected.

We are not looking for you, we are busy talking. Understand?

Want to be the "Highway Survivor"?

Drive your Subaru.

...what? Most of that video was of bikers going too fast and losing control. Some of the accidents where cars are running lights or stop signs might also have been avoided had the biker been going a bit slower or a bit more cautious. For sure, there are plenty where the biker did nothing wrong and couldn't have done anything to avoid it and every biker in this forum will tell you that there is pretty much something they had a chance to get killed every single time they ride; deer, cars, debris, you name it.

You get on a bike you are exposing your body to forces it cannot withstand and bikes are not designed, can not be designed, to help protect you.

That is both the pure joy of riding and the danger.

Me, too, because a lot of them are unpredictable and and not paying as much attention as you should when you're going 80 miles an hour and completely exposed.

Yesterday I'm coming back on Rt. 4 just past Suitland Parkway, moderate traffic, and I see him in my rearview - kid on a crotch rocket coming up FAST. He whips behind me, then whips in front of the car in the next lane, zips up, darting around the cars.

Nice, #######, make your Mom get "that call" on Mother's Day.

Feel free to allow a normal amount of space at stop lights. We're not moving. If we just fall over you won't run over us.
I was at my folks place in VA a couple of years ago and was stopped at a light. Bike wouldn't trip the sensors on the road, a "No Right On Red" sign and a cop sitting in a parking lot next to the intersection. Little old lady stops 15 yards behind me and isn't over the sensors. After about 15 minutes traffic was lining up, blowing their horns and she finally moved up a few feet and tripped the light.

...her foot slipped in a nervous twitch, being so close to a bike, hit the gas, rammed you out into the intersection and sent you, face first, into an oncoming truck that, fortunetely, already had a biker stuck to his grill after running the last light, thus cushioning the blow and sending you on your way, somewhat dazed, but, all in all, another successful ride."

 I'd rather have that happen with a person 5 ft behind me instead of 30 ft. Less time to build up her speed.

...a joke where I probably shouldn't. Seems every time I go out, I see a biker almost kill himself or get killed.

Sorry.

I agree, many of the snippets were bike riders doing stupid things. You can't fault cars for bike riders hot rodding around and putting themselves in greater danger.

ALL bikes have a great power to weight ratio. Mine is about 6 lbs per each hp.
Take your average 3500 lb SUV and you'd need over 600 hp to match it.
It's real hard for responsible adults to not flaunt your acceleration. It's even harder for a 20 year old.
