Bierman was shot during an ambush on Interstate 64 in East St. Louis. He was transporting a man who had been shot in the 1500 block of North 51st Street in Washington Park.

The highway gunman approached the ambulance from the driver's side and fired seven gunshots into the vehicle, striking Bierman in the shoulder and under the armpit, Simmons said.

Police and personnel with MedStar think the gunman was trying to finish what he started and prevent the ambulance from getting the gunshot victim to the hospital.

maybe if the punk was a better shot all they would have needed was the coroner ...

My ex was a medic in NYC, working for the FDNY. They were instructed not to go into certain areas without NYPD backup, no matter how seriously wounded a victim was, because the gangbangers would shoot whoever they needed to in order to get to their intended target. There were numerous occasions when he and the other medics had to wait an additional 15-20 minutes, once they got near the scene, for the police to get there. More often than not, it would be one thug shooting or stabbing another thug - no real loss of life there, imo. If they'd continue eliminating one another, our jails would be less crowded and our tax dollars wouldn't be used to support them and their 10 kids.

Sounds good to me. Send 'em all away to a deserted island somewhere and have 'em "shoot away". I don't think it's racial - there are white gangbangers, too! I'm not sure if it's as much an issue in Maryland, but NY has some skinhead gangs, most of which are white gangs.

I never met a Volunteer or a paid man who wasnt happy to help anyone who needed it. Thats what they do. However after hauling the dregs of America's entitlement class.

First let me explain that the dregs of the entitlement class doesnt mean any particular race. It means just what it says, the dregs of American entitlements. Black, white, hispanic and anyone else who feels they are owed a living.

As I said after hauling the dregs of America's entitlement class who call for a toothache, an appointment at a hospital clinic, a seizure they wouldnt have had if they stayed sober, a nose bleed,a dog bite which is no more than a scratch and other various and sundry BS calls that dont need the use of an emergency vehicle, they get burned out. Then we have the drug overdoses, and the cuttings and the beatings at domestic arguments, now we have this poor fellow doing his job and getting shot for it.

There isnt an ambulance in any city or county who dont have their regulars. People who abuse the system. At the hospitals they know them by their first names.

That is so true. And even though the medics know "the regulars" who really don't need the ambulance and call several times a week for a free ride, they have to respond every single time or risk being sued the one time the POS really does need emergency care and they don't show. Then the medics are out of service for the people who really do need them.

The drug overdoses get old, when the calls keep coming from the same druggies time and time again. And the domestic violence calls are the worst - it makes the medics feel like saying, "OK, you've been beaten by the same loser 4x this week so now you're on your own. Stop wasting our time if you keep going back for more". Frickin morons.

You nailed it, wouldn't it be ironic if this douche that shot him gets shot himself and bleeds out on the street because they can't safely respond.
