Restraining orders

I wasn't sure where to put this.

I did a case search on someone that was in the news for breaking the law locally. I see an old case where someone got a restraining order against them. 1 of the stipulations is that they have to surrender their firearms.

Can you give them away instead of surrendering them? When the restraining order runs out, do you get your guns back?

I don't have any restraining orders against me and don't see any on the horizon. I was just curious on how the process works. Seems like it could be abused and someone could lose 1 of their rights.

It's probably not a standard stipulation. Might be related specifically to threatening someone with a firearm.

I know of someone that said they belonged to his (minor) son. He got them back.
