Rethinking Sex Offender Laws a Tough Sell

Did anyone see the Law & Order SVU episode about the music teacher?
Is that the one where he molested all those kids, and one of those kids ended up molesting other kids when he got older?

crabcake

But wait, there's more...
I have a pretty simple stance on pedophiles -- they should be shot upon conviction -- PERIOD! No gray areas, no years of appeals, no probation or parole, no sex offender registry to be concerned about ... cheaper on the tax payers. It takes some kinda sick to molest a kid, and that's a 'sick' we can do without in society.

Yeah. It was on last night. It kind of freaked me out that the music teacher sort of forced the kid (when he was older - 18ish) to molest another child...

The older kid had been molested by the music teacher since he was little, but silenced into submission, then "made" to touch another young kid.

I guess I've just never thought of the process of molestation being "passed on" like that before... And then, the older kid, then a man when the music teacher was being taken to trial, was sought for equally offensive charges as he was over 18 when he touched the younger kid...

Sorry if this is confusing. It's all so disturbing and I just can't wrap my head around it. I guess that this would be maybe an only exception, to me, where I would give a tiny bit of leniency. To the older victim, who abided to touch a child once while under directives of his predator....

I don't know... it's all just effed up and sad...

I understand what you are saying. Molestation by proxy, right?

yeah... granted it was on a show, but they're usually modeled after a true case.

Understood.

Studies have found that a lot of previously molested people have reoffended due to what has happened to them in their past.

It is disturbing to think that some are so manipulated that they would actually commit the crime for their molester to view so that the molester is not blamed. Bad case of brainwashing.

Sad, sad, sad....

 What a crock of crap, and it is rather presumptuous of him to classify "all sex offenders" in that statement. I spoke to Fred for about 20-25 minutes a few weeks back on the phone, and he is sure signing a different tune than this article portrays. I hate inconsistency, but I also have to keep in mind that the media is a big dog that will eat, twist and spin anything for shock value. If I had to put bets on it one way or another, I'd say the media took comments out of content.

Sure, there are some that are on the list that shouldn't be and the humiliation revolving around their circumstances "CAN" make it hard for them to move on with their lives, because the circumstances are not what I as a citizen would find a threat in any way; yet there are some on there that clearly target children and teens and should be on a list for public awareness.

Let’s not forget that there was a time when you were publicly ridiculed in front of the community for your crimes, what makes a sex offender different? It alerts potential victims and sure it does need some work, but the intended purpose is to alert potential victims even if it is a bit over zealous in sticking people on the list without reviewing the circumstances.

There was a perv in Lusby who molested his own daughter last year. If that doesn't deserve a bullet to the brain, I don't know what does.

I looked him up on the court website, and there are now charges of child porn. Maybe a bullet is too nice. That death should be a little slower and way more painful.
