Revelation 18: After this I saw another angel coming down from heaven. He had great authority, and the earth was illuminated by his splendor. 2 With a mighty voice he shouted:
“‘Fallen! Fallen is Babylon the Great!’[a]
She has become a dwelling for demons
and a haunt for every impure spirit,
a haunt for every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable animal.
3 For all the nations have drunk
the maddening wine of her adulteries.
The kings of the earth committed adultery with her,
and the merchants of the earth grew rich from her excessive luxuries.”

The footnotes take us to Isaiah 21:9Look, here comes a man in a chariot
with a team of horses.
And he gives back the answer:
‘Babylon has fallen, has fallen!
All the images of its gods
lie shattered on the ground!’”
One of the images that seems consistent when I think of the Middle East.... is sand. It seems there is sand everywhere over there. It doesn't seem to be green anywhere. When I read about images of gods shattered on the ground... I see a dusty window lit room.... with sand piled up in the corner... and dust all over everything.... it's disheveled and almost looks uninhabited.... but there are little hints of current occupancy... and on the floor are broken statues like toys.... now just litter. Abandonment.....When I think of Rome.... or New York City... or London... or Moscow.... or Paris.... I think of money... money.... money.... shiny baubles and statues. Everyone is adorned with a gold laden hat.... with a huge noise maker.... and all the money, shiny baubles and statues are safely locked away from those who have none. I think of "correctness" and "conscience" hidden by glitter and pomp. Addiction....
When I was a kid.... I thought everyone in the world was a Christian. I thought everyone in the world was divided as Protestant or Catholic. Ignorance....
Now it seems the dust and glitter were hiding lots and lots of humans.... and when the chariot does appear.... well there will still only be two divisions... Believers and Unbelievers.
Money won't be worth anything!
