Revelation 6 The Pale Horse

Revelation 6:7 When the Lamb opened the fourth seal, I heard the voice of the fourth living creature say, “Come!” 8 I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.

The commentary linked below calls the horse color Ashen or green. The link I found called ashen the color of ash.

According to one of the commentaries....
Based on Daniel 2 and Ezekiel 38 the final Beast Empire will consist of peoples from modern day Iraq, Iran, Syria, Ethiopia, Libya, Ukraine, Turkey, Russia and Germany. These nations at present combine populations equal to about one-tenth the total population of the earth. However, geographically, these nations equal one-fourth the earth’s total landmass. (9 million square miles)

Another of the commentaries relies heavily on Ezekiel 5 and Jeremiah 15. God is very capable of wiping out the whole earth any way He so chooses. He allowed Satan to destroy Job's life, remember?

Here's where my pre-trib hope comes in. Once the 4th Seal is opened and Death & Hades is opened.... I was promised everlasting life as a Christian. Death and Hades are not in my cards. I believe, if we are not taken up when this seal opens, we will be spectators only.... but that's going to be hard enough... right?

I just hope I don't get use to it. I use to watch the news every night when we first went to Vietnam. I couldn't rip myself away from the coverage of 9-11. Desert Storm brought fear into my life. I sit here this morning listening to the news. I don't want to become complacent.

Regarding the fourth horseman in Revelation 6:8:

“I looked, and there before me was a pale horse! Its rider was named Death, and Hades was following close behind him. They were given power over a fourth of the earth to kill by sword, famine and plague, and by the wild beasts of the earth.”

The fourth horseman of the Apocalypse is symbolic of death and devastation. It seems to be a combination of the previous horsemen. The fourth horseman of the Apocalypse will bring further warfare and terrible famines along with awful plagues and diseases. What is most amazing, or perhaps terrifying, is that the four horsemen of the Apocalypse are just “precursors” of even worse judgments that come later in the tribulation (Revelation chapters 8–9 and 16).
