Revelation 6:3 When the Lamb opened the second seal, I heard the second living creature say, “Come!” 4 Then another horse came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make people kill each other. To him was given a large sword.
There are no Greek word interpretations for verses 3 & 4 in the commentaries I read. One of the commentaries actually lumps the next three horses together.
The color of the horse is unnatural. It's not just red or chestnut. It's a fiery red. I've never seen a red horse [chestnut yes but red, no]. All the commentaries say something about the color of this horse. All say it signifies blood.
Most of the commentaries talk about war. One says it's a war that encompasses most of the world. One says it's civil war. One says it's Rome against the church. One says it's church members against church members and the destruction of the church.
Look around, read the news, turn on the TV. If we're not seeing the effects of the Red Horse and the rider with the large sword already.... well then I for one really hope I'm long gone before it starts.
