Revelation 7:1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3 “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.” 4 Then I heard the number of those who were sealed: 144,000 from all the tribes of Israel.
5 From the tribe of Judah 12,000 were sealed,
from the tribe of Reuben 12,000,
from the tribe of Gad 12,000,
6 from the tribe of Asher 12,000,
from the tribe of Naphtali 12,000,
from the tribe of Manasseh 12,000,
7 from the tribe of Simeon 12,000,
from the tribe of Levi 12,000,
from the tribe of Issachar 12,000,
8 from the tribe of Zebulun 12,000,
from the tribe of Joseph 12,000,
from the tribe of Benjamin 12,000.
I went back to the easy English site this morning.
Now there is an interval between the sixth (6th) and the seventh (7th) seals.
John saw these four (4) angels. They stopped the winds so that the winds could not blow on the earth. No wind could stir up the sea. No wind caused the trees to move. The whole world was still. The angels controlled the winds until the servants of God had his mark on their heads.
These angels stood at the four corners of the earth. John did not think that the earth was a square. He meant that the angels stood over the whole earth. They had control of all wind.
The four angels had power to damage the earth and sea. God had given them this power. But another angel came from the east. He shouted to the four. He told them to do no damage until God’s servants received the mark of God.
This mark of God was the name of God and of the Lamb. God’s servants must have this mark on the front of their heads. The mark was there to give protection to these people. The awful events that were coming would not hurt them.
John heard that 144 000 had this mark of God. This is not an actual number. There were 12 tribes of the Jews. There are 12 times 1000 from each *tribe. These numbers show that all in the groups were marked.
John records the 12 tribes by name. This means that all these 144 000 were Jews. They all believed in Jesus their Messiah. They were from all the tribes of the Jews.
144,000 Messianic Jews will survive the earthquake and take the seal of Jesus..... they are Messianic Jews. Not Gentiles.... Jews from the tribes of Jacob [whom God renamed Israel]. The commentary says "this is not the actual number"..... that might confuse some of the ladies in my neighborhood. There will be at least 144,000 Messianic Jews. No doubt there are millions of Messianic Jews in the world. They will all get to go..... but only 144,000 will be marked on the forehead. These 144,000 have a job to do.... the mark on their forehead is like an ID tag. I've heard my neighbors talking. They were relaying all kinds of thoughts about the 144,000. One of them says only 144,000 Believers will be allowed in Heaven.... room issues they claim! I met a woman in a church a long time ago who believed that all the Christians are here on earth and the Jews go to Heaven to become angels..... humans won't become angels. I did hear once that if humans hang out too long before confession.... well they might turn into a harpist.... the harpist is stuck playing the harp all day long every day for the rest of eternity..... so don't wait.... just in case it might be true! Of course the music might be surprisingly good.... after all it is Heaven.... so a late confessor might enjoy being a harpist for eternity.
In Heaven there is no segregation or racism. In Heaven.... setting aside the 144,000.... everyone just gets along with everyone. Let me restate this.... everyone gets along in Heaven..... it is after all Heaven.... everything is lovable...... but everyone in Heaven is lovable..... the shape of my nose and the freckles I sport would just be an adornment to love in Heaven. The Seal on the forehead of the 144,000 is a beautiful ID tag..... with a purpose.
So.... after the earthquake.... 144,000 Messianic Jews will be given a seal and set apart...... "chosen".
