Revelation 8:6 Then the seven angels who had the seven trumpets prepared to sound them.
7 The first angel sounded his trumpet, and there came hail and fire mixed with blood, and it was hurled down on the earth. A third of the earth was burned up, a third of the trees were burned up, and all the green grass was burned up.

I've been hoping to be gone before the angels with the trumpets go to work.
The first commentary I went to says "A storm of heresies, a mixture of dreadful errors falling on the church, or a tempest of destruction." I asked, in another thread, "who wore the white robes?" If all the Christians on earth are now in front of the throne, it doesn't make sense that God would bother with the heresies and dreadful errors that would fall on the church. I've seen this argument before. If the Christians are gone, who will be here to keep the truth of the gospel in the church?
At any rate.... there are still plenty of people still on earth when the first trumpet sounds. The 144,000 are still on earth. These actions will affect humans. Luckily, people are familiar with the sound of a trumpet. It's going to be strange though, hearing a trumpet from Heaven.
When Jesus opens the seals, a quarter of the earth is affected. Now the trumpet judgments will destroy a third. The destruction is growing.
We are seeing more and more and more meteor showers lately. We've been watching the sky so now we even have a calendar for meteor events! So this judgement is a very real threat.
Hail and fire are not new tools for God.
Genesis 19: 24 Then the Lord rained down burning sulfur on Sodom and Gomorrah—from the Lord out of the heavens. 25 Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, destroying all those living in the cities—and also the vegetation in the land.
