Revelation 8 Half Hour of Silence

Revelation 8:1 When he opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour.

2 And I saw the seven angels who stand before God, and seven trumpets were given to them.

3 Another angel, who had a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense to offer, with the prayers of all God’s people, on the golden altar in front of the throne. 4 The smoke of the incense, together with the prayers of God’s people, went up before God from the angel’s hand. 5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

Let's set the scene of the meeting again. God is sitting on a throne the color of jasper and ruby. Around that throne was a rainbow of emerald. Around the throne there were 24 elders, each dressed in white with a gold crown seated on throne. In front of the throne of God were seven lampstands. In the center around the throne of God, were four creatures, full or knowledge, that looked like a lion, an ox, human, and an eagle. There was a myriad of angels and now there was also a multitude that no one could count, from every nation, tribe, people and language, wearing white robes and holding palms, standing before the throne. Jesus is holding a scroll that He received from God.

On earth, 144,000 had been sealed on their forehead. The 144,000 were made up of 12,000 each from the 12 tribes of Israel, God's chosen people from the beginning. On earth 4 angels were holding back the winds of destruction.

Six seals had been opened. Now we are at the Seventh and Final Seal on the scroll.

When Jesus opens the 7th Seal everyone and everything gets quiet. Imagine the silence. It must have been deafening after all those songs of praise. No one coughed. No one shuffled. No one made a sound at all. We've all experience "a moment of silence". When it's that silent, a minute seems long. Half an hour of this silence must feel like an eternity.

Then, seven angels who had probably been waiting since their creation for just this moment, lined up and received a trumpet. Another angel, who likewise had probably been waiting since creation for this moment, went up to the golden alter before the throne of God, and offered up fragrant incense and the prayers of all God's People.

Then this angel, using that same censer, scoops up hot embers from the alter and hurls it at earth.

Revelation 8:5 Then the angel took the censer, filled it with fire from the altar, and hurled it on the earth[/URL]; and there came peals of thunder, rumblings, flashes of lightning and an earthquake.

I put a link in the text above. It's just one meteor that hit Russia... I'm not saying the 7th seal has been opened.... I'm just showing how one meteor affected us.... I figure the fire from the alter will be much much much much... worse.

I think whatever is written on that scroll describing the remaining judgements is so terrifying and so startling in nature that it completely stuns those in Heaven into silence.
