Revelation 8:13 As I watched, I heard an eagle that was flying in midair call out in a loud voice: “Woe! Woe! Woe to the inhabitants of the earth, because of the trumpet blasts about to be sounded by the other three angels!”
This is another one of those verses in the Bible that just keeps me loving the Lord.
Did you see it coming?
Have you ever been in an accident?
Have you ever seen an accident?
Have you ever seen a child stepping out in front of a car?
Have you ever been riding down a steep hill on a training bike with no brakes, picking up speed, and loosing control?
These are just a few of the instances when I have involuntarily shouted "Woe, Woe, Woe"!
One of the commentaries I read regularly for these posts says "When the fourth trumpet sounded (v. 12), nothing fell from the sky. But the dimming light of sun, moon and stars, and consequently of both day and night, sent a signal that the worst was yet to come. This impression is confirmed by the voice of an eagle or vulture directly overhead, announcing three even more terrible "woes" or judgments against the earth's inhabitants."
Another commentary compares the eagle's ability to speak the words "woe, woe, woe" with the ass speaking to Balaam.
When the next trumpet is sounded in Revelation 9..... it's going to be really really really bad.
