Revelation 9:13 The sixth angel sounded his trumpet, and I heard a voice coming from the four horns of the golden altar that is before God. 14 It said to the sixth angel who had the trumpet, “Release the four angels who are bound at the great river Euphrates.” 15 And the four angels who had been kept ready for this very hour and day and month and year were released to kill a third of mankind. 16 The number of the mounted troops was twice ten thousand times ten thousand. 17 The horses and riders I saw in my vision looked like this: Their breastplates were fiery red, dark blue, and yellow as sulfur. The heads of the horses resembled the heads of lions, and out of their mouths came fire, smoke and sulfur. 18 A third of mankind was killed by the three plagues of fire, smoke and sulfur that came out of their mouths. 19 The power of the horses was in their mouths and in their tails; for their tails were like snakes, having heads with which they inflict injury.
20 The rest of mankind who were not killed by these plagues still did not repent of the work of their hands; they did not stop worshiping demons, and idols of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood—idols that cannot see or hear or walk. 21 Nor did they repent of their murders, their magic arts, their sexual immorality or their thefts.

John is talking about a massive invasion and the aftermath of that invasion. Horses were used in invasions. The head of a lion has been used to depict ferocity. War horses displayed the armies colors. This is not a good trumpet.
The death of one third of the earth's remaining inhabitants will be the most catastrophic disaster to strike the earth since the flood during the days on Noah. I found that statement in the fourth commentary.
The same source says "It should not surprise us that Billy Graham said years ago that if God didn't judge America soon, he would have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorrah."

The size of the army that kills one third of the inhabitants of earth is 200,000,000. That is one huge army. Commentaries say that China may have an army of that size soon. I would love to ignore the current geopolitical inferences in the commentaries but it might not be such a bad idea considering we might well get hung up on horses with tails made of snakes. So here goes.
My husband loves to watch "Top Gear". It's a BBC show about cars. On that show I heard that China now has more cars than the US. Where there are cars there is a need for oil. Where there is a need for oil there are people who will want to control that oil. It's not a far leap to say that China could put together an army of 200,000,000 to take control of the oil rich area surrounding the Euphrates. An invasion of that size would eclipse any invasion before it in history rendering law and order completely mute.
I heard it said "there are no atheists in foxholes". Now I heard that the military is battling the church.... saying preachers can't preach. So now there are indeed atheists in foxholes.
