What are the specific issues with Ms. Richardson in regards to the performance of her job? Or, is this just a personality issue?
I thought you lived in St. Mary's David..... I guess not.

If you had ever had to deal with her concerning your child and the St. Mary's County School System you would know. She is a product of everything that is wrong with teach colleges in our country. It is scary that she is going to have any contact in molding future teachers.

But wait, there's more...
If I recall correctly, when I was dealing with the SM Cty school system a year and a half ago, this was the ONLY woman who actually returned my calls and took actions to address my concerns (I didn't know who she was at the time; just that when I raised high-enough hell, she was the only person to personally call me back to discuss the issue).

I don't know what she's done to pizz folks off, and I haven't paid attention to the politics, simply b/c I don't think they have a place in our schools. "Education" shouldn't be a political issue, IMO. But to think politics don't exist in the schools would be naive. :ohwell:

Why...yes.... yes, you should...

:yeahthat: I'll be the first to admit that short of knowing Chopticon hands out flavored condoms to students and has a daycare for the kids of kids going to school there, I'm pretty much in the dark about the school's administration (probably b/c, for the most part, I'm happy with DQ @ Dent and their teachers and stuff).

What's the big deal with Richardson? What's she done (or not done)?

Hmmm, not many facts to substantitate all of the negative comments. If you are concerned about the replacement, NOW is the time to start making calls and writing letters. Don't sit back and let it happen and then come on here and call people bad names.

That's my pubic service message for today :)
TY  I've only lived in St. Mary's for about 2 1/2 years, so I don't know Richardson's history. And I still don't. :ohwell:

The Enterprise lists several things that have been accomplished during the 8 years that Richardson's been in charge. It's natural since she's leaving, for people to focus on the positive, not the negative. The only negative things in the paper are from Joe Gass, and he didn't even come right out and blast her, just talked about what her successor should be like (implying what Richardson's faults are, but not actually stating them) But I'm not sure I trust the source, even less so given certain recent events.

He doesn't have kids in the school system so he wouldn't be aware of any problems in that area.

I don't have any first hand knowledge about the public school system or it's personnel (other than the gentleman in the transportation department who blew me off threw times last year when I called to get the bus schedules so they could be published here-I guess the Enterprise has exclusive rights). Just seems to me that if you can come here and call someone nasty names, you ought to be able to at least state one problem the person caused. So far no one has offered any facts.

 Who called her any bad names? I was just doing a dance

To me - just my opinion and why I am doing the happy dance - she is represents the sterotypical school bureaucrat. Having dealt with her and many of her underlings several times I can not be sad she is going.

The attitude both, my husband and I received from her, was "We know what is best for your child and you do not." If this is the way the top person in the school administration comes across one has to ask how many principals, teachers and other take their cue from her?

I would love to see them hire a real business manager. That person is managing staff, expanding branches (building new schools), etc.
