I made a purchase this morning in the PF Shopping Center. The young man gave me two quarters, circa 1957-9 as change. I told him the pre 65 quarters were collectors items and he said, "hey, I have a few more. they're old too".
I got 12.... two were standing liberty's, (late '20's early 30's) the rest 40's 50's and 64's.

I guess some burglar or granny was in line before me...

Or some teen got into granny’s stash not realizing their value. I had a cousin who stole quite a few from my Aunt’s coin jar.

Damn, you were paid to shop. Estimated silver value at $81.

I had a kid come back from the cafeteria after lunch one day thinking he had been given counterfeit money in change-a $5 Silver Certificate and some 1950s quarters and dimes.

Of course, I offered to take them off his hands and follow the requisite procedures.

And yeah, some other kid had gotten into Meemaw's/Gampy's stash. At least it wasn't weed, which also happened a few times.

Lost a large stash of silver I had accumulated from metal detecting including 1851 and 52 silver 3 cent pieces, a baggy of 1/2 dollars and quarters and my one and only Spanish Real. Lost it all to a drug addicted daughter. My MDing friend lost some to his druggy kid including a 1942 over 1 Mercury dime.
