DC Go-Go icon Little Benny formerly with Rare Essence passed away Saturday night at a relatives apartment in Southeast, sometime after wrapping up a gig in Capitol Heights with Go Go Godfather Chuck Brown's band.
Friends say Little Benny had been ill since undergoing major surgery for a herniated disk and hip problems. He was often forced to use a cane on and off the stage.
The 46 year old musician's birth name was Anthony Harley. He was born in Southeast DC, attending Ballou high and UDC.
His most popular tune is "Cat in the Hat". His most incredible feat on stage was putting two horns in his mouth and playing them both at the same time.
An autopsy will determine the exact cause of death. Anthony "Little Benny" Harley leaves a wife and six children.
