Road a Road King yesterday...

...07, Screaming Eagle, V/H pipes, stage 1, and...ape hangers. Which I thought I'd never like.

One fun ass ride!!! Not my cup of tea to actually own but, damn, that's the first HD I've ridden that was even in the ballpark of the raw horsepower and kick in the ass of my bike and I would have never guessed I'd be comfortable with apes. 18", I think, real nice for me.

I installed stage 1 on both my Harleys. Great feeling of power. :yay:

How much gain you figure? 10%? 15? Because a FLHTCU tends to suit me for much of my riding BUT the motor is just pathetic.
I really can't tell you because I put it on my new one in 2003 right after the 1000 mile break in period where you couldn't go over 50mph. I do remember the mechanic saying "It feels good to ride a touring bike with power".

My 2nd already had it when I bought it so I've never ridden a stock bike.

Try the S&S gear drive with 505 cams, it will leave your SO on the street rubbing her butt! I had a 2002 RD King Classic with the above mentioned assistance! I had the 18" baby Apes and they were wider and 1 1/4" bars, a;ll wires hidden inside, road that one to TX and back, very comfortable. I now have a 2005 RD King, stage 1 and touring seat for sale, 2 tone blue, with 5,000 miles on it. If I don't sell this one, I will start on the upgrades.

Good stuff.

I was on line looking for pics of 18" apes on touring bikes when I got home.
