It would be interesting to learn the whole story here. Such as what was this guy doing with a "large amount of cash" at 4 am and how did these guys know he had it? What kind of set up?

He prolly didn't report S from the sounds of hit he was left bleeding from a pistol whipping, I bet it was a bad drug deal and some hotel employee found the "victim" laying in a pool of blood and phoned it in.
