"ROBINS AIR FORCE BASE --
Maj. Gen. Tom Owen sought to reassure Robins Air Force Base workers Wednesday against what he called "rumors that some people are trying to put Warner Robins Air Logistics Center out of business."

Owen, the center commander, addressed hundreds of employees at the Warner Robins Civic Center during one of 10 commander's calls scheduled for three days this week.

Warner Robins ALC is the principal organization at Robins, employing more than 15,000 workers and accounting for most of the base's $4.2 billion in economic impact to Middle Georgia each year.

Owen did not indicate who was spreading the rumors or why.
Commander: RAFB rumors are baseless

That wasn't very truthful of him. Every military depot is fighting for dwindling work, and will compete as hard as they can. There is also competition from contractors trying to steal that work. They may not be trying to "shut down" WRALC, but they are trying to take away any work they can.

Contractors don't "steal" work. They "win" work because they are cost effective and more economical that the bloated, bureaucracy ridden, hideously inefficient organic activities
