On Friday, July 12, 2019, Trooper First Class Anthony Wallace of the Rockville Barrack received a Meritorious Service Citation at the Gaithersburg-Germantown Chamber of Commerce Public Safety Ceremony. The ceremony sponsored by local businesses recognized first responders throughout the Germantown/Gaithersburg area for service and bravery. TFC Wallace was nominated for the award based on his outstanding performance during 2018 related to the number of impaired drivers he arrested. His nomination read:
“During 2018 TFC Anthony M. Wallace made 150 arrests for driving under the influence of alcohol and /or drugs in Montgomery County, Maryland and the surrounding area. This was the highest number of impaired driving arrests of any Trooper in the Maryland State Police. His enforcement efforts led to a reduction in property damage collisions which taxpayers and insurance companies would have been responsible for, personal injury collisions, and traffic back up, and an untold number of lives being saved. In 2019, he continued his strong enforcement efforts averaging nearly ten arrests for driving under the influence per month. His dedication and service reflect great credit upon him, the Rockville Barrack, and the Maryland State Police. TFC Wallace’s dedication to enhancing the safety of all who travel on Maryland’s highways, which is one of the main goals of the Maryland State Police, is admirable and worthy of recognition.”
