Rodney King was detained after a disturbance at a clothing store in the 1200 block of North Lake Avenue at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, a Pasadena police sergeant told the Pasadena Star-News.
Officers called to the scene found two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for the 41-year-old and arrested him without incident. He was released Wednesday after a court appearance.

King, who was born in Sacramento, became a symbol of police brutality when amateur photographer George Holliday videotaped four LAPD officers using batons to beat him after a car chase on March 3, 1991.

On April 29, 1992, a Simi Valley jury acquitted the officers of state charges alleging excessive use of force, sparking four days of riots that left 55 dead, 2,383 injured and $1 billion in property damage.

Two of the officers were convicted in 1993 on federal charges of violating King's civil rights and served 30 months in prison.

King has had at least nine other brushes with law enforcement since the beating, including arrests based on allegations of DUI and hit-and-run, indecent exposure, assault, and drug use.

...disturb the lynch mob, but, that didn't work very well the first time, now did it?

No, I was being completely serious. I would never seek to say something that might be construed as humorous.

Though some don't act in a way that makes you feel they deserve it I believe in respecting officers and obeying the law but I disagree with police BRUTALITY. It's one thing to try and detain a suspect with force using the weapons you have in the manner they were created but it's a whole other thing to just go Bruce Lee on a suspect. Times have definitely changed since sheriff's used lassos.

On a related note, I got an email today with photos from Sean Bell's funeral. I guess the black man needs learn sooner or later to just stop resisting and go quietly with the police or else. :wench:

And I believe it's an "I'M IN POWER RESPECT ME!!!" adrenaline rush that's takes detaining too far and not one that is racial. Some people do actually become police officers for the wrong reason.

:lmao: Maybe... but I was thinking more so for revenge or personal vendetta's from being wronged by a bad guy where they were left feeling powerless and all before taking the oath.
