Rookie Drivers

I have two teenage daughters who just got driving permits and completed driving school. Now it is up to me and their father to make sure they get, at least, 60 hours, each, behind the wheel.

Keep your fingers crossed for us that we make it through it alive. Please.

Anyway.... 4 or 5 years ago when our oldest daughter was learning to drive, MVA gave us big yellow and black "Rookie Driver" magnets to put on our car, front and back, when she was behind the wheel. It let all the other people on the road know that she was inexperienced. I wish I had kept them, but I didn't and now I need more.

MVA told me they didn't give them out anymore and didn't have any. I asked their driving instructor and she didn't know where to get them either.

Does anyone know where I can get some? Anyone got some they aren't using anymore?

I am putting my life (and theirs) in their very inexperienced hands and I'd like to have something to warn people. This teaching them to drive stuff is REALLY scary and I try not to let them see how nervous I am. I know having these signs on my car won't make them better drivers, but they'll make me feel better.

:yay:

I might put one on the back of my camper just for reaction.

rookie driver running down the road with 20,000 lb combined weight should keep people from getting to close to me...

dont ya think?

You will be fine. just make sure the kids realize that IT can happen to them.

I just dropped the registration on my Lincoln Town Car. Im going to totally redo it to make it like brand new again. This will be my daughters first car.
its an 86 Signature Series that has all the electronics of the day in it. Just turned 100,000 miles, interior still looks brand new in it, everything works, so Im going to fix any blemishes to the body and have it repainted in the original color.
she is really excited about this since it was the first car she ever road in.

I took that car across country with the family in 1999 when it was 13 years old and she was 4.

so, gonna redo it and leave the Historic tags on it for her.

and she will take the test in it. If she can pass that test in a 21 ft boat, she can drive anything.

hey, it made her change her mind from the mustang...

whenever we go anywhere long distance (without the camper) she has always wanted to take the Lincoln. You cant feel any road issues in that car.
even has the speed actuated power steering (ahead of its time for an 86)
only thing I changed on it was the automatic leveling. When that went bad about 15 years ago, I put regular shocks in it and got rid of the air levelers.
they were nice while working, you could load the trunk with all your stuff and put a couple fat womens in the back, it would hiss and raise the back up level agian..

now the fat womens just make the bumper drag... :killingme

ebay has a lot of various ones. Just search rookie driver magnet or student driver magnet.

yeah yeah
Seriously- go to Michaels craft store- and get some of that window paint that they use for weddings and such (it is on the right side wall, where the glass paint is) and write "ROOKIE DRIVER". The paint cost like 3.00. They are easy to apply- they look like bingo dabbers. Just write.

Not a good idea. Yeah, a lot of people will back off, but there are a lot of douchebags who will go eff with them just because... or the person looking for an insurance payout - guess who they'll go after.
