Roomba Robot Vacuum

But wait, there's more...
Since the threads in 2004, anyone buy one? Like it, love it, hate it?

I'm thinking about getting one for the downstairs (all hardwood floors) simply to run and pick-up the dog hair each day. As it is, I have to sweep the entire downstairs every day because Sammie is a shedding biatch ... it amazes me she isn't bald with all the hair on the floor. I brush her but it still keeps coming. I figure I can have this thing run mid-day, and it's done when I get home each night.

Any consumer reports? :tap:

I forgot to mention that I'm not particular to brand ... if there's something else out there with the same concept, I'm game. :yay:

My aunt and uncle have an all wood floor, she got tired of sweeping all the time, bought the "big red" and rave all about it for their wood floors.

We have one and my mom has one - ours (the red one) lasted for one year then stopped. We bought another battery and it still has some issues. Right now we don't really need one - but when I get a house we'll probably buy another one. They are extremely easy and great! Especially for someone who hates to vacuum. :yay: K just added that it worked great on pet hair. We ran a regular vacuum over then the roomba and it picked up a ton of pet dander that the regular vacuum had missed.

Coworker has one and loves it. VERY Loud though! Make sure you don't have cords on the floor...

While the idea of the Roomba sounds tempting, I can't imagine a battery-operated vacuum having enough power for a decent cleaning. I'm like Tim Allen - when I clean a rug, I want a vacuum cleaner with enough power to pull the paint off a wall.

You said it! :killingme

I have one. Works great for touch-ups on carpet but only gets the surface dirt, there is no vaccum capability, just brushes. Works great on hardwood and tile for pet hair. I just start it and go about my business. The battery only ran out once when it got stuck. It's supposed to return to its base when done or running low on juice.

And that's really all I want it for ... to do a daily pet-hair run on the wood floors. I have the Dyson Animal Ball for the heavy-duty suck-age on the carpets. I'm just tired of running around downstairs with a dust mop or broom every day when I get home from work. I'm all about working smarter; not harder.
