At 1:14 p.m. today, St. Mary’s police and rescue personnel responded to a reported school bus crash on Rt. 5 involving two busses.
The St. Mary’s Sheriff’s Office reports two school buses from Georgetown Visitation Preparatory School, in Washington, were traveling north on Rt. 5 at the intersection of Rt. 242 in Morganza when the lead bus stopped for a turning vehicle.
The bus in the rear failed to stop and struck the rear of the other bus.
More than 10 ambulances and a transport bus took 70-plus students were transported to St. Mary's Hospital for observation and treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
