Router question

Again, I'm technically challenged :jameo: My router is in the living room. When I'm in the bedroom the bars drop down to 2. However, I am picking up full bars off a neighbor's router. This started about 2 weeks ago. Help.

Where does the sawdust go?

But you may want to go into your router settings and try a different channel. Depending on where you live your router maybe further from your bedroom than your neighbors router.. or they may just have a more expensive more powerful router.

Do you notice a drop in speed? Normally, the amount of bars you have doesn't really matter, as long as you stay connected speeds should stay the same.

I figured they have a much better router than I do. Here's another dummy question. How do I check the speed?

Just Google "speed test" and pick one. DO NOT download anything that says it will increase your speed. The speed test will let you view both you uplink and download speeds but it won't tell you what your router speed capabilities are. Just check the manufacturer's website if you don't have the manual that came with the router.
