I am trying to find a router for my garage apartment. I receive a wi-fi signal from the main house but it is very weak. What kind of router do I need to put in my apartment to get a stronger signal?

I think it's the landlords router and he needs a stronger signal. he could buy the landlord a stronger router, but he's better getting a wifi signal booster.

Before spending money, I would investigate making a parabolic reflector and asking the landlord if he would consider placing it near the router.

How strong is the signal? Is there any place where it is noticeably stronger? You may not need a external antenna if you have a good place to place the repeater.

Do you have a smart phone? if so download "WiFi Analytics" you can see if the channel the router is using has interference.. what the signal strength is, etc etc then try changing the channel to one that has the best signal and least interference..that could improve your signal a little bit for free

Jefa tech ~ Probably as simple a solution as putting an external antenna on the wifi access point and pointing it toward to area you want. I have done wifi up to a mile away by pointing antenna at each other.

They have a link sys system with custom firmware that will repeat as well.
