Ruby-crowned kinglet

I had the pleasure to meet a ruby-crowned kinglet.
He was found outside WalMart, California and I transported him to Wildlife Rescue this morning.
Very tiny bird..weight: 5-8 grams....less than 2 nickels.
He is suffering from head trauma. You can see how one eye is shut.

I thought bird folks would like to see one close up.
I have never seen one before today.

It is sitting in my friends' hand.

A lady found it outside WalMart..and another rehabber got it from her, and I recieved it to transport it up the road.
Kudos go to the unknown WalMart customer and a rehabber in St. Marys. :yahoo:
All part of the team .....

A couple of links for those who want to know more:

I will post updates as I get them.

Flew into a window, I'd guess? I took a black-eyed junco off the patio the other day after I heard it bang into the glass. Sometimes they live, sometimes not. This one looks like it was lucky.

A solution for this is to put a "post-it" notes on the glass.

I would have confused it with a goldfinch, looks like all the finches that have been bombarding my thistle feeder this past month, I will have to check and see it I see a little red marks on the tops of there heads maybe I have ruby crowns and not finches. I sometimes have more then a dozen of them fighting for the perches on the feeder.
