Look back at the smear of the decade in the 90's and tell me how many good public servants on both sides were forced to remove their name for consideration because 8 years ago they hired a Honduran house keeper for a year only to have it discovered they used a fake SSN and were illegal?

Unfortunately, that's the nature of politics, and that's why politics doesn't guarantee good candidates. But it is what it is, and McCain should have anticipated the response, but he didn't - which doesn't reflect very well on McCain's decision making or insight.

You are not getting it. McCain is going to get attacked anyway for his choice and his choice is going to get crucified. McCain chose who he wanted and it could be argued he showed courage picking someone fresh and arguably flawed instead of the old wrinkly beltway insider white guy of the week.

Your side is nastier and more vile and always has been. It is a fact to me, I believe it wholeheartedly and I am pretty sure most of the non window lickers agree. It is just the way it is.

If the watercooler discussions regarding Palin's nomination have become largely defensive in nature, then Palin was a poor candidate. And if Palin is a poor candidate, then that speaks to McCain's ability to make good decisions in critically important matters.

...you're side is getting defensive, it's because you do have a shred of decency in there somewhere.

Palin is a fantastic pick;

She's a governor.
She was a two term mayor.
She's an accomplished jock.
She hunts.
She's a mom. 5 times over.
She has what looks like a pretty darn good hubby.
She is NOT a lawyer.
She is NOT a DC creature.
She has worked for a living outside the government.
She wants to pump oil.
She is a tax cutter.


My God, I wake up every day since with this amazing sense of well being that this country, our nation, may well have a REAL American in the Whitehouse for the first time since Reagan.

Psst BTW, I'm a democrat. I accept people for who they are. You don't have to convince me it's ok to have a baby unwed. My sister (Claudia's mom) was a unwed teenager. I'm ok with it.
