Ruth 1:11 But Naomi said, “Return home, my daughters. Why would you come with me? Am I going to have any more sons, who could become your husbands? 12 Return home, my daughters; I am too old to have another husband. Even if I thought there was still hope for me—even if I had a husband tonight and then gave birth to sons— 13 would you wait until they grew up? Would you remain unmarried for them? No, my daughters. It is more bitter for me than for you, because the Lord’s hand has turned against me!”

Naomi knew what she was going home to. She had been married but now she had no husband. He had provided for her but now she had no income, no inheritance, and she wasn't even sure where she was going to lay her head at night.

Look at Matthew 8:18-20.

Matthew 8:18 When Jesus saw the crowd around him, he gave orders to cross to the other side of the lake. 19 Then a teacher of the law came to him and said, “Teacher, I will follow you wherever you go.”

20 Jesus replied, “Foxes have dens and birds have nests, but the Son of Man has no place to lay his head.”

Naomi knew it would be fare to ask these girls to come with her. The other women back in Bethlehem all had husbands or family to take care of. She had no one. She would have to live on the kindness of the rest of her family.... financially stuck and definitely alone.
