I saw RV because of it's rather impressive pedigree. The cast (Robin Williams, Jeff Daniels, Cheryl Hines) is quite good and it's from director Barry Sonnenfeld, of The Addams Family, Get Shorty, and Men In Black fame. I was, I regret to report, quite disappointed. Here is a comedy where for every drop dead hilarious moment (anything involving Daniels playing something of white trash king) there are moments which are either gross (Williams being covered in another character's fecal matter) or just fall flat (Williams knocking over tons of things in his neighborhood when first driving the RV, a very long bit which is uncomfortable to endure it's so unfunny). It did have good energy and great performances from Daniels and, surprisingly, pop singer-turned-actress Joanna 'JoJo' Levesque helped, but it generally fails to connect more often than not. I wouldn't call RV all-out, 100% terrible and families might want to consider it as a rental down the road (if they don't mind the occasional moment of toilet humor and comic violence), but this, with so much talent involved, could've been much better than it is.
