“Even the most basic safe food handling practices, such as hand washing, cooking to required temperatures, and properly storing leftovers can prevent foodborne illness,” said Heather Moritz, Director of Environmental Health at SMCHD. “We hope that offering this class virtually will allow for increased access for our community members and local food service facilities.”

OMG can the health department get any dumber? A virtual class on safe food handling?! Since when can a restaurant cook and serve food virtually? SMCHD needs to take their own advice - open the windows in your own building and you can safely hold a food handling class in person! Duh!

I can't believe I'm taking up for the SMCHD, but there's no reason that this class can't always be held virtually. I literally "sat" through the entire 3 hour class. There is no hands on anything. I think they took one or two volunteers from the class for a hand washing exercise.

The class has not changed one iota in thr 5 years that I have been subjected to it. Same tired stuff over and over.

Oh I agree with you. Just trying to point out the absurdity in it all. Me personally am a hands on in person type - don’t care for anything virtual, except maybe those midget porn sites that Gilligan talks so glowingly about...
