LEONARDTOWN, MD (January 14, 2022) – The St. Mary’s County Health Department (SMCHD) will offer virtual Safe Food Handling classes on the following dates/times:
The Safe Food Handling class is designed for those preparing food at home, in restaurants, or working at special events where food is served to the public. This free introductory training covers the following topics:

“Even the most basic safe food handling practices, such as hand washing, cooking to required temperatures, and properly storing leftovers can prevent foodborne illness,” said Heather Moritz, Director of Environmental Health at SMCHD. “We hope that offering this class virtually will allow for increased access for our community members and local food service facilities.”

- Safe cooking practices
